ED Stainless provides high-quality AWS Class ER309/309L SAW wires and matched flux for joining different metals and stainless to carbon steel using submerged arc welding. ER309/309L has lower carbon content to reduce carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion. Our flux is designed to improve slag removal, bead quality, and welding efficiency. ED Stainless ensures its materials meet strict welding requirements, making them suitable for industrial fabrication, structural welding, and maintenance across various sectors, including refineries, marine, and pulp and paper plants.
ER309/309L filler wire includes 23–25% Chromium and 12–14% Nickel, with carbon limited to ≤0.03% for better resistance to sensitization. It provides a tensile strength around 550 MPa and elongation of about 35%. This alloy offers strong resistance to corrosion and oxidation, resulting in ductile, crack-resistant welds. When combined with optimized SAW flux, it produces stable arcs and high-quality fusion on different metals. It is particularly effective in conditions with thermal cycling and corrosion in moderate heat situations.

ER309/309L SAW wire and flux are excellent for welding stainless steel to mild or low-alloy steels. They are commonly used in chemical plants, marine equipment, pressure vessels, and piping systems needing corrosion resistance. The low carbon option reduces the likelihood of carbide formation, making it suitable for situations where post-weld heat treatment isn’t possible. These materials are often used in cladding, buffer layers, and structural transitions in power plants and process piping. Their ability to connect different base materials with mismatched thermal expansion makes them essential for weld integrity and service reliability.
