Alloy 309LMo contains 23–25% Chromium, 12–14% Nickel, 2–3% Molybdenum, and low Carbon (≤0.03%). It provides a tensile strength of 550–580 MPa and strong resistance to localized corrosion. The additional Mo improves performance in acidic and chloride-rich environments. When combined with SAW flux, it produces a tough, ductile weld metal with great bead shape and penetration. This filler metal is suitable for dissimilar welding, cladding, and corrosion-resistant overlays, providing both mechanical integrity and corrosion protection in demanding operating conditions.

Alloy 309LMo SAW and Flux Uses

Alloy 309LMo SAW and flux are widely used for cladding low-alloy steels in chemical tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and structures exposed to seawater. The alloy’s resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking makes it suitable for offshore platforms, desalination plants, and bio-reactors. It is also utilized in flue gas scrubbers, pulp bleaching equipment, and marine exhaust systems. This consumable excels in joining or overlaying carbon steel with high-performance stainless materials that face aggressive chemical exposure and high temperature, ensuring long-lasting durability in challenging environments.
