Stainless Steel 304L Bars have 18–20% chromium, 8–12% nickel, and a low carbon content of ≤0.03%, thereby reducing carbide precipitation on welding. These bars provide tensile strength of 485–620 MPa, yield strength of around 170–200 MPa, and elongation of 35–40%. Low carbon provides higher weldability and lower susceptibility to intergranular corrosion. SS 304L is non-magnetic after annealing and gives superior resistance to corrosion in oxidizing conditions. It provides excellent formability, tensile strength, and clean surface finish and hence is suitable for sanitary and structural uses.
