Ed Stainless exports high-performance Stainless Steel 309S Bars from its Houston plant catering to industries requiring outstanding oxidation and high-temperature resistance. SS 309S is low-carbon type 309 that is specifically suitable for welding and high-temperature applications. Having better high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance, these bars are employed in furnace components, heat exchangers, and petrochemical processing equipment. Ed Stainless guarantees that all 309S bars conform to ASTM A276 standards, providing consistent surface finish, exact dimensions, and durable performance. Our dedication to quality makes us the go-to partner for industrial-grade stainless solutions in North America and around the globe.
Stainless Steel 309S Bars have 22–24% chromium and 12–15% nickel, with a maximum 0.08% carbon content. The lower carbon increases weldability and reduces carbide precipitation when welding. 309S bars have a tensile strength of 550–750 MPa, yield strength of about 205 MPa, and elongation of 35–40%. They have structural stability up to 980°C and resist sulfur-containing atmospheres and oxidation. SS 309S is non-magnetic in the annealed state and offers superior thermal stability and corrosion resistance, and is thus used in cyclic heating and cooling applications.

Stainless Steel 309S Bars find application in high-temperature situations like furnaces, kilns, boilers, and heat exchanger systems. They find extensive use in petrochemical facilities, thermal processing equipment, and aircraft industries. The oxidation and scaling resistance of the alloy renders it useful for radiant tubes, refractory anchors, and combustion chambers. In welded construction, SS 309S avoids carbide precipitation, maintaining long-term function in thermal cycling situations. Its corrosion resistance also enables it to operate in mildly corrosive or oxidizing environment, such as flue gas scrubbers and refinery equipment. Ed Stainless supplies 309S bars that work effectively when exposed to constant heat.
