Ed Stainless supplies AWS Class E316/316L-16 Electrodes that are intended for welding 316 and 316L stainless steels, which possess superior corrosion and high-temperature resistance. These electrodes suit the chemical processing, marine, and food manufacturing industries, where maximum performance is crucial. AWS E316/316L-16 electrodes are designed to provide great weldability, excellent crack resistance, and stable arc flow. Whether welding high-temperature parts like heat exchangers or marine vessels subject to saltwater conditions, these electrodes ensure long-lasting, consistent welds that preserve the integrity of key structures.
AWS Class E316/316L-16 Electrodes consist of a blend of stainless steel with 16-18% Chromium and 10-14% Nickel content, along with the inclusion of Molybdenum (2-3%), enhancing corrosion and pitting resistance. Low carbon levels in the “L“ grade reduce carbide precipitation and ensure durable welds. The tensile strength varies between 600 MPa and 750 MPa, while the yield strength is around 250 MPa. They offer excellent arc stability, low spatter, and good slag removal, producing tough, high-quality welds that are resistant to oxidation and cracking.
