AWS Class E316/316H-16 Electrodes consist of 16-18% Chromium and 10-14% Nickel stainless steel, with 2-3% Molybdenum added for greater resistance to crevice corrosion and pitting. Carbon addition positions these electrodes for high-temperature use (316H) where the creep resistance is critical. They have tensile strength between 600–750 MPa and yield strength approximately 250 MPa. Their mechanical behavior enables them to retain strength and resist oxidation under high temperatures, making them suitable for use in high-performance welds in severe environments.
