AWS Class E385-16 Electrodes contain high carbon content and alloying constituents like Manganese, Chromium, and Silicon, which impart very good strength and toughness. Tensile weld strength usually ranges from 600 to 750 MPa, with yield strength at approximately 250 MPa. The electrodes are formulated for use on high-carbon steels and hardenable alloys and possess excellent crack resistance, high hardness, and wear resistance. Superior arc stability and low spatter are ensured by the formulation, leading to robust, long-lasting welds that retain strength under severe stress.
